In Situ: A great way to show your work digitally

Recently I have been seeing a lot of other artist showing their work In Situ, in situations, like hanging on museum and home walls. I have always tried to take pictures when I have shows or when I make sales but these images are so much more professional. Like they came out of Architectural Digest magazine. Well, it turns out there are new apps and software that merge your photos of your work into professionally staged environments, and they look stunning! It helps the viewer and possible buyer visualize how the work will look hanging in their home. A great advantage for online interest and sales. A quick Google search turned up a multitude of different apps and softwares. many that only worked on your smart phone and a few that worked on all platforms. I wanted one that would work on my desktop computer. Many of these solutions came with a limited time free operation, and a few that had a plan that was totally free with some type of limited function. I ended up choosing one that was called Canvy at canvy.com. They have a couple of plans that are on a monthly fee or annual contract that includes 600 room situations and many other features. They also have a totally free plan that limits the room situations. There are about 50 free room situations. I chose this free plan to start. I have been so impressed with the quality and versatility of Canvy that I am sure I will upgrade my plan. The app is totally interactive in that you can customize the wall and almost all the props like couch, chairs, vases etc. You can change colors and types of walls. So, you can make the wall any color, and you can change the type of wall from standard painted wall to a brick of almost any color, or a wood panel wall. This means if your painting has a predominate color you can change the wall to match or contrast as you like. AMAZING! Another great thing about Canvy is that you can keep the painting at scale or change the scale. Keeping the scale is important for me. You also have frame or no frame options, and print or painting options. On the print options there are glass reflections that are built in to add realism or you can turn that feature of if you think it is distracting. All in all it is an amazing app! I can see me getting to the point of overusing it, but that’s a good problem to have. I strongly suggest that you try it out, what have you got to loose? #In Situ # art photography # photography tip #abstract art #fine art
